How do I store selected cookies when I have browser set to clear cookies at the end of a session. I thought you could go to "exceptions" and code them block or allow but my browser is not storing the information.

I have my browser set to keep cookies until I close Firefox. Under exceptions you can type in web addresses and code them block or allow. My browser does not seem to be storing this information, when I close and reopen it the exceptions list is blank. For example, I have a Yahoo page where I keep some information and now it always asks me to login but in the past I could store one of their cookies in Firefox with a 2 week expiration date. I have no extensions installed.

You need to let cookies expire if you close Firefox, then exceptions will work. Exceptions do not work if you use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the cookies if you close Firefox. Also if you select 'Site Preferences' then you remove all the exceptions including cookies exceptions.

So what's the point of the exceptions. If you don't clear cookies when you close firefox then you will retain all the cookies from that session. It would be ridiculously odious to block all the cookies I don't want after each session. Is there a simpler way to get rid of all but the few cookies that I want to save.

Use Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox" That will remove all cookies, except the ones that you have set as an exception.

To see all the History and Cookie options, select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

Since I want to keep some cookies, it seems that the point of this thread is that is that I must close FireFox to delete unwanted cookies.

I would rather be able to identify those sites I want to retain cookies for and then never have those cookies deleted, unless I specifically delete them through the cookie manager. Then I can use the "Clear Recent History" to remove unwanted cookies without restarting FireFox.

Tools>Options>Privacy>"Accept cookies from sites" checkbox has an associated button labeled "Exceptions". You'd think that exceptions are the sites you want to disallow, yet it has "Allow" and " Block" and "Allow for Session" which doesn't make sense. What's the point of "Allowing" a cookie in the exception window?

It depends on the default cookie setting.

If you block all cookies then you can allow some cookies.
If you allow all cookies then you can block some cookies.

You can see all exceptions for the current domain, including the cookie settings, in Tools > Page Info > Permissions

My problem: drugstore.com is a main shopping site for me, but my shopping cart will not retain items I've put there if my browser has to close for any reason. They indicate this is due to cookies so I've been checking things out.

I have "Allow Cookies" and "Allow Third-party Cookies" checked. I have "Allow Session Cookies." But this did not allow drugstore.com shopping cart to remain in place. Now I have clicked "Exceptions" and added the exact address shown in the bar after I have logged into drugstore.com, and then I clicked Allow for this address. I don't know if this is going to work or not but will check it out.

If I'm off track here could someone please help me. Please!
