I appreciate the functionality of adding outgoing email addresses to an address book. It makes it easier to auto populate in the future when drafting emails.

I have completed the very simple steps to select the box to add outgoing email address to my "Collected Addresses" book.

However, I have noticed that the system will add the outgoing email address to BOTH my "Collected Addresses" and "Gmail Contacts".

While I want the email address as "Collected", I do not necessarily want as part of my "Gmail" contacts.

Is this a setting or a bug?

Thanks

Chosen solution

Thanks for the help. I actually had to go 1 step further.

Mail - Settings - General

Near the bottom:

Create contacts for auto-complete:

Change to: I'll add contacts myself.

This seemed to do the trick for Thunderbird.

You are talking about two separate things. Thunderbird adding you contact to collected addresses and Google being their ever helpful self and also adding the address somewhere else.
