Thunderbird Spell Check

The other morning, Thunderbird I believe did an update. This appeared to only take a few seconds, but when I re opened Thunderbird and typed an email message, I noticed that spell check had some how disappeared and was no longer working. I read a few help messages and even downloaded a new dictionary. Nothing worked and I'm still left without spellcheck. I've looked through all the other items and settings and did make sure the spell check boxes were checked. Willing to try anything else that you can suggest since I'm out of resources to try. Thanks

What update have you performed on this computer? Which version of Thunderbird do you have now? What sort of computer do you use can I ask?

If possible, you can boot into trouble shoot mode of Thunderbird.

If you can perform your tasks here, it may depend on the extension you use for this. This one is not responding okay.

Also delete any dictionary you may have installed.

Once the software responds normally again, you can install your dictionaries again. from trusted downloads.

this doesn't work at all then try reinstalling the Thunderbird Software.

Hello, You asked for my current Thunderbird version.....that is: 115.6.1 (32 bit)

I'm running Windows 10 version 22H2 which was updated on January 9, 2024

So far none of the suggestion work. Question.....If I reinstall Thunderbird, will I loose all my saved folders and previous emails? Also, will it install over the Thunderbird version I have or do I have to delete Thunderbird in it's entirety? I'm just worried about loosing my folders and previous important emails. Thanks

Hello, you can switch the functions on and off in your Thunderbird software. for the game check functions.

If you are unable to use these features and the error persists, feel free to erase the Thunderbird software if you plan to reinstall it.

There have also always been reports of this subject.

one of the two functions will fail or come back at its own discretion.

Recurring glitches in the game check are not uncommon.

you can try using the included add-on which should give approximately the same results as the built-in version in the configuration.

When you uninstall the Thunderbird software, you will keep your files on your PC.

Did you know the icon of thunderbird .exe that is located on your desktop screen. especially searching for duplicates of this icon is good.

You can simply install the software again without losing anything. These remain stored on your computer's SSD.

If you delete these from your SSD, they may be lost. And a recovery tool will have to be used.

First a backup is recommended.

I don't see any problem why you can't cancel your account and reinstall it when you want to be able to do so with ease.

use a backup to be on the safe side.

and use a good antivirus.

Yes you can delete the icons.exe And reinstall it.
