I always was a fan of firefox 56.0. When ever the updates are available I decline. I got it before and had to redo some stuff the way I like it. I have heard others complain about these problems and now youtube is all messed up. Where I have my tabs there is some discoloration and the tabs are missing a lot of sites I had in them, I guess my computer did the latest update. How can I go back to FF 56.0?

Hi Frank, did you post from the computer that has the problem? Your Firefox is identifying itself as version 56. You can check the Troubleshooting Information page to verify. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

That said, it's possible that some of your Firefox settings got lost for some reason.

Oh didn't see that. Something is wrong with the layout. Seems bing is my homepage now. One of my tabs (under address bar) is missing all the info and some of the tabs of lost their color, how do I fix that?

Hmm, check whether Firefox created a new profile.

Before doing this, I suggest closing out of Firefox and doing a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks. However, you could try without it if you prefer.

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Anything useful there?

Make sure toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible. Open the Customize page and set what toolbars (Show/Hide Toolbars) and toolbar items to display.

  • Right-click empty toolbar area => Customize
  • "3-bar" menu button => Customize
  • View -> Toolbars
    *you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
  • check that "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar, drag it back from the Customize palette to the Customize page to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette, drag them back from the Customize page to the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette, click Restore Defaults in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.
