cannot open videos in an email

Thunderbird emails work fine except cannot open any videos included with the email. This problem suddenly occurred as previously it was not a problem. Nor certain but it may have resulted from updating to most current version of Ubuntu.

How are these videos in the mail? do video attachments work?

They are always attachments which for a long time always worked and then just stopped working.
