I upgraded my MacBook Pro operating system and now have a message that thunderbird app is damaged and needs to be put in trash. Can I trash it and reinstall without losing my data? Thanks in advance for the help!!

The user data is in a separate profile folder, so removing the app won't affect the profile.

Thank you. So once I reinstall should the data all be there or will some sort of merge be needed?

If the profile is in the default location, the new install should automatically read it on first launch. If it doesn't, there is a way to point the app to the profile, using Help/More Troubleshooting, about:profiles. But that probably won't be necessary.
