Hello

My pEp has been working fine for a year or so. I last used it about 1month ago, i did an OS update on my mac a week ago.... Today pEp stopped working saying internal error when trying to send a pEp message. See attachment.

I can send non pEp emails fine, I can receive non pEp emails fine. I am unable to decrypt pEp msgs atm.

I started out by trying to remove the extension. That failed so i had to remove via finder, library folder>profile etc…

reinstalled no change.

Uninstalled thunderbird, reinstalled thunderbird, reinstalled pEp. No change.

OS - Montery 12.6 Thunderbird - 102.4.2 (64-bit) pEp - 1.1.114

I have sent an email to pEp support, but my question to this forum is:

I used the troubleshoot mode, i left extension on and when it restarted it showed the extension as "on". However the extension did not run so i could not review the fault condition relating to the internal error.

I am certainly not an expert on the troubleshoot process but i was hoping that I may have gained some more info about the "internal error" message that may help.

Am i missing something in the process or should I expect the ext to work and give me something to work with?

Thanks in advance.

You should contact the developer of the pEp extension.

You may also check the error console (CTRL-Shift-J) for any further hints about your problem with pEp.

As I mentioned I have contacted pEp and provided a thorough detail of the issue i had and all the steps to resolve. Their response was nothing more than to tell me to download the extension again, with the same link i used a day ago. Disappointing and not constructive.

Anyway, i removed the ext, re-installed from the link to day and no change to the issue/error.

I tried the (CTRL-Shift-J) doesn't work on my Mac. I found the error console via the help search box and found the following, see attached screenshot.

I see there is references to pEp but i'm no coder and cannot diagnose from the console output. If anyone has suggestions, thanks.

Neither can I, and I never used pEp. Probably your best bet would be to email the console output to pEp support.

I emailed them 2 days ago with all the extra info i found. No reply as yet, and i am not holding my breath on a quality response based on my last email from them.

Is there a pressing need for you to use pEp, or could you just switch to the built-in OpenPGP implementation?
