Thunderbird update installs as new software so cannot find existing profiles?
Install of Thunderbird update loses profile connections so requires that I reinstall all email info and then cannot connect to server correctly

Your profile is still there. Sometimes, during an update, antivirus software interferes. When TB starts and prompts for email setup, click the Home tab in upper left and the right-click and tick 'menu bar'. Then, click help>more troubleshooting information and scroll down left side par to Profiles and click 'about:profiles.' Yours should show there.
