I give up on your FAQs, etc. How can i get FF to store and display usernames so i can select them when i open the browser (e.g. at an email service), but NOT passwords. It does this on one computer, but i haven't found the magic code to get it on another. i'm on Win 7 as long as my computers hold up - hope forever.

That would be by using saved form data and not the Password Manager to store the username. The Password Manager can only store a username and password and leaving the password field empty isn't possible. You could store a fake password and fill the actual password and set a block exception to prevent updating the password. You can search the Add-ons website for a form fill extension as built-in Firefox saved form data is not site specific and the data isn't encrypted like in the Password Manager.
