Hello,

Today I cannot get onto three of our websites using Firefox, but other people using different browsers *are* able to access them. Refreshing the pages, rebooting, and clearing the cache in Settings did not help. What do you think is causing the problem and how can it be resolved? Thanks.

Here's the message that displays (changed the website name to xxx below) for me on all three sites (appears to be an SSL issue but as mentioned above, others can access the sites using different browsers).

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to xxx.com. Peer’s Certificate has been revoked.

Error code: SEC_ERROR_REVOKED_CERTIFICATE

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

The certificate was not revoked, but the SSL test claims it was.

Firefox and SSLLabs both query your issuer about the certificate status using OCSP, and the issuer is saying, "Yeah, it was revoked." It's crappy if your issuer never told you that, but checking with them is the next step.

P.S. Other things I tried but that did not help:

1. Tried to open the websites using "New Private Window."

2. Followed instructions given as solution in similar issues (found via questions in the panel on the right): Settings>Privacy and Security>Cookies and Site Data>Clear Data>"Cookies and Site Data" as well as "Caches Web Content."

If we can't resolve this, we will have to start using a different browser :-(

Hope someone can provide the solution soon!

This is a common problem with GoDaddy customers for some reason... To verify the status, try using this test site: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/

Firefox may be the last browser that checks revocation status in real time, but other browsers that rely on lists may detect the situation soon so if the certificate really was revoked, best to get the new one in place ASAP.

The certificate was not revoked, but the SSL test claims it was. Strange that the sites are accessible everywhere but via my PC using Firefox.

The sites have functioned fine for years. A few weeks ago the SSL failed when GoDaddy moved the sites to a new server. After 2 hours on hold, the agent fixed the problem and the sites were accessible again until yesterday.

If there are no other suggestions on how to fix the problem, I'll call GoDaddy to complain.

Thank you.

Thank you! Having the SSL Labs report on hand when I called GoDaddy proved helpful.

GoDaddy seemed more interested in trying to sell us their "Website Security" than in fixing the problem, but eventually the rep said the SSLs needed to be reset and issued a ticket for it to be done. Two were fixed and they put “Website Security” in our shopping cart even though I told them we did not want to order it.

I called again for them to fix the third SSL, got the sales pitch again and was told to text them about resetting the third SSL, which I did, and it too was reset, so they are all working again.

What an annoying vendor! Glad it's working again, though.

We have used them for years without issues until recently. During the last few months we have had time-consuming, frustrating and annoying problems with three of their products :-(
