Hello I'm a Thunderbird enthusiast but unfortunately I'm still stuck to the last 68.12.x version. So far I didn't upgrade to the most recent 91.x version because on doing so I will loose some fundmental add-ons like "Colored Folders Colored Folders" and "Account Colors Account Colors". With my Thunderbird installation I manage about 10 different email accounts using the global inbox organization and I have more than 60 different folders where incoming emails are dispatched through several automated filters. All works super fine and smoothly. The "Colored Folder" add-on helps to identify the different folders at a glance using a vivid and distinctive color coding. The "Account Colors" when composing an email helps to use the proper email account and avoid mistakes because it colors the email header during editing according to the selected accoun used.

Unfortuntaly when last year the 78 version was introduced both these fundamental add-ons stopped working and their creators declared their frustration and stopped upgrading. Since then I stopped upgrading TB because of this. I made an attempt with a 78.x installation but the native folder color possibility is not effective enough, the colors are too light and cannot be customized further. No possibility either to customize the email listing and email editing windows based on the account choosen.

I think I'm not the only one asking for these add-ons, I see several messages of other users missing them with newer TB versions.

On the other side I'm asking myself if and how is possible to revive these add-ons for newer TB versions:

  • are you planning a tool to upgrade somehow these older add-ons to be compatile with recent versions ?
  • do you have plans to include similar features as standard feature in future TB versions ?
  • where is it possible to source some documentations that one can study and evalute to start approaching the developments of an add-on ?

Thanks in advance Pietro
