Apple's Mail app has the same configuration as Thunderbird and it sends email just fine. I get: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.shaw.ca was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again." I have tried every suggestion I can find online. my version is 91.3.2 (64-bit) My OS is Catalina. I am using iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

What are your settings? They should be: mail.shaw.ca on 587, STARTTLS, normal password, User Name = part of address before @. You might have to use a 'strong' password for a desktop mail app.
