thunderbird becomes extremely slow (5-10min) when sending emails

I have been used thunderbird for many years and it was good. But recently both of my thunderbird on Mac and Ubuntu becomes very slow when sending emails (5-10min), including using both smtp servers from office365 email and gmail. I tested re-install thunderbird on Ubuntu and remove email accounts in thunderbird and none of them worked. Any idea?
