I think I have the same problem as https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1271890#answer-1262903.

It says: " ... Each account should send through an smtp server that is defined with the same User Name and password as the incoming account. ... ".

I have like foo@bar.com and baz@bar.com with the same smtp.bar.com. changing the description in one place changes it in the other sometimes.

Looks like I need ot add the same smtp server and give it a unique description for each user.

This is very confusing. Mow my ports are messed up.

Anyone got a sane way to deal with this?

thanks

Chosen solution

Your question causes me sanity issues.

If you have an incoming server there needs to generally be an outgoing server entry to match it.

When you use the new account wizards it creates just such pairs of servers.

If you do not have them use the add button in the outgoing servers (SMTP) account location and add as many as you need, each uniquely names so the correct one can be associated with the correct outgoing mail account.

i started with eudora, been on roadrunner/timewarner/spectrum for 27 years, so many of the accounts had different properties, then switched to tbird and added some more.

so as you suspected, i added an smtp entry for each user. that seems to fix the problem.

thanks
