Sorry, I can't help you with that feature request, but to display your Bookmarks quickly:
Press Ctrl+B (the Control key and the B key) to display your Bookmarks sidebar.

Hi William, which bookmarks are you trying to access more conveniently? Firefox has 3 main buckets for bookmarks:
- Bookmarks Menu -- you can access this from the top menu bar
- Bookmarks Toolbar -- an optional horizontal bar you can display just below the main toolbar (more info: Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window)
- Other Bookmarks -- originally called Unsorted Bookmarks, this is where new bookmarks are added initially (there is a fly-out list for these on the Bookmarks Menu)
Firefox's built-in startup / new tab page has a section of Top Sites, which are based more on your history than your bookmarks. I you wanted to show your bookmarks in this space instead, I think you would need an add-on for that.
