Update wiped out my previous session. Why? How do I get it back?

I have "restore previous session" in options checked and after an update the previous session always came back but after this one it didn't. The restore previous session option under history is empty. All the stuff under profile is gibberish to me and only bring up things which do NOT say restore previous session. Never trust anybody. This is the second time Firefox has screwed me.
