Firefox was working fine until the latest windows update after which I am now receiving the "unable to connect" message.

After uninstalling and then re-installing, firefox connects and I'm able to browse! However, when I exit and reopen the browser, I get the same "unable to connect" message.

The same issue applies to Chrome, however Bing (unsurprisingly) is working fine!

Using Kasperksy (no settings appear to have changed).

Any help appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Just thought I'd update here:

Running the following commands in Command Prompt appears to have resolved the issue.

netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset

Wish I could edit my post.

Sorry, I meant the Edge browser (not Bing). My brain just automatically associates the two.

Sometimes it is one of the things discussed in this article. Does anything here help:

Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can

Hi,

@jscher2000

Thank you for your quick response and the link.

I have tried all of those suggestions (with the exception of the malware scan which will take some time to complete - although I'm fairly certain that won't be the cause). Unfortunately, the problem persists.

Firefox is trusted by my anti-virus and the permissions page is a sea of green.

Seems a strange issue. It works perfectly after the reinstall, but loses connectivity when you reopen the browser after closing it down.

There seems to be no way around this at the moment but to keep uninstalling / reinstalling.
