Inbox may show an email for a few minutes and when it I close Thunderbird and reopen it the inbox shows an email and then it disappears very quickly. I can not find it in the junk or any other folders. I have spent 4-5 hrs on trying to resolve this with no avail. Online support appears not to have any remedies that work. I am about to give up on using Thunderbird if I can't get this resolved.

Truman, thanks for your timely reply. I checked as you suggested and that did resolve the problem. The e-mails are no longer disappearing. I am using spectrum and also added a gmail acct to check.

Do you have another device checking this account that is setup as POP? It sounds like Thunderbird is set as IMAP and you have another device set as POP and that device downloads the messages and removes them from the server. Then you open Thunderbird and they show until it syncs with the server and sees the messages are gone.
