How can I prevent accidental sending of more than 10 addresses in the To: or Cc: fields?

On my old Windows 8.1 system using Thunderbird I was able to set a limit as to the number of entries allowed in the To: and/or Cc: field to prevent sending of a message where I intended to sending a mailing list using the Bcc: field. I would receive a warning that my message exceeded the limit for those fields and I would realize my mistake and change it. Recently using my new Windows 10 system on a new computer I accidentally typed in the mailing list shortcut for several hundred people into the Cc: field and it went out with everyone able to see my mailing list. That protection needs to be reset but I cannot find any way to set it up again.

The complete answer to your question was that it is partially helpful, so I wanted to say yes and no, not simply no. I installed the extension and restarted TB and followed the instructions for the recommended method of using a Contact Sidebar to choose which mailing list nicknames to place in the Bcc: field when writing an announcement to go out to many members of my list. However, this is cumbersome as usually I simply start to write the nickname in the recipient bar and it quickly enters my selection. When I then hit enter it gives me the option of adding another sub-list group of recipients. I noticed that there is also an option to simply make everything become a Bcc: entry but that is not what I really want or I can go back and change the original To: name back from Bcc to To:. What I really want and cannot see how to set is the number of recipients I want to set as a safety valve, which will simply trigger a warning that the message has exceeded the limit and will not be sent unless I override the warning. In my old version of TB I had set it up that way and it worked really well. I send a lot of announcements out to a variety of groups of list members and I would like to save time in the preparation without risking the revelation of everyone's email addresses accidentally. For now the extension gives me some hope but it seems that some instructions are not explained.

Thanks for your help.
