I'm trying to help my Uncle out. He's learning polish, and has been using the windows language bar to type in Polish when he needs to. Unfortunately, the language bar recently stopped working in firefox, and only in firefox. In fact, it will straight up vanish when he opens firefox, then reappear when he closes it. I reset firefox, but that didn't help. I tried turning off all addons as well (he only has 3 plugins [flash, OpenH264 Codec, & Widevine] and 1 extension [Kaspersky]). The computer is also clean, and windows is up to date. Once again, the language bar works in other programs (such as word). Unfortunately, I can't tell you if he's made any recent changes.

What Firefox locale (user interface language) does he use?

You can also check the "Internationalization & Localization" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

Maybe try to ask advice at a Windows oriented forum.

English - US is what he normally uses in firefox and windows. He only switches to Polish input when he needs to do homework.

Lol. Yeah, it's seems to be a tough one. I can normally use googlefu to find an answer, but couldn't find any threads with a problem quite like this one. Regardless, I posted here because I figured people on a Windows help forum would tell me to try posting on a Firefox forum -after all, the problem is limited to firefox.

Anyway, I might just have to install Chrome, and have him use that when he wants to use Google Translate. I prefer not to however, because he's not very computer literate. I mean, he was straight up using AOL desktop up until 2 or 3 years ago.

Well, I went to install chrome on his computer, and he said that it was working again. So, I don't know what he did, but it's working now. Hopefully, it stays that way.
