I keep getting a box that says there is a new update to firefox, but I DO NOT want the update since it screws up a TON of stuff. They did not test their update.

I keep getting a box that says there is a new update for firefox but I do not want it because it screws up everything. Since they have shitty programmers that cant test anything, I want this to go away. How is that possible? ELSE, I will just uninstall Firefox which is extremely simple to do!!!

What problems did you have with Firefox 65?

It no longer blocks ad's.

Do you mean that your preferred ad blockin add-on stopped working in Firefox 65? I have to think that was fixed by now, but anyway, Firefox 66 is due out next week.

The entire history is now on the url line.

Do you mean the address bar drop-down which shows entries from bookmarks and history, and search suggestions, shows a lot more than Firefox 65 than it did in Firefox 64? I didn't notice a change myself; you could double-check the settings for what appears in the drop-down -- it's the section entitled "How can I control what results the address bar shows me?" in the article "Address bar autocomplete suggestions in Firefox".

and... and... and... it won't allow NO UPDATE.

If you search other threads, you will find a method to prevent Firefox from ever checking for updates. It uses a Policy file. You can still set Firefox to show you when an update is available so you can time the installation. ("Check for updates but let you choose to install them") I have that setting.

None of this garbage does anything for me. I found the BEST SOLUTION to these issues..... I DELETED this SHIT software from my PC and went with a combination of Edge and IE. NO the issues you said should be fixed by now are NOT fixed yet AND there is still no way to stop the damn Firefox SPAM message to update to the untested, screwed up, POS version. Done with it after 15 years.

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox 64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md

FredMcD, that's not a solution, it's an all day trip. Mozilla just needs to allow an option to NOT update, just like every other program in the world.

I found the solution that fixed ALL of the issues. I went into Settings, Apps and clicked UNINSTALL next to Firefox... ALL FIXED!
