Hi there, Have been a happy Thunderbird user for years. Have always been able to right click on a file ~ Choose send to mail recipient and TB would open a new message with file attached ....All was good. Recently things have changed: Now if I click on file with TB open nothing happens. If TB is closed it opens TB but not a new message. When it first happened a window popped up that said something about being used by another program (sorry, I did not save a screen shot or write down). There was a checked box that said always show this message when this happens. So, not being very smart, I unchecked the box and now the message does not pop up but the problem remains. I did some noodling around on Google but have not found anything simple enough that I was comfortable doing it....Most involved regedit and I am not really comfortable in there. The only thing that has changed recently is that Windows wanted to do an update and I allowed. That might have caused this but I don't know. So anyway.....Any of you folks hear of this and do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance! RC

Thanks for your quick response, SF! I read the release notes. One question aboutinstalling newest version of TB from one of those sources: Will I lose emails or settings that I should worry about and back up or does it just affect the program? Thanks again! RC

It just effects the program not the profile folders which contain the emails etc. Download the installer from https://www.thunderbird.net/ Then run it.
