I have 3 email accounts in Thunderbird, call them A,B,C. When I send a email out of A, it always goes out with the C email address. Thus, any responses to the email go to C. This happens no matter what email address I select in the FROM line. Never did this before! I use GMAIL and I went into gmail directly and sent a email from that and it went out properly. Also did it from my iPhone and worked properly. To make this even more weird, a copy of the email is put into the proper "sent" file and shows the email address correctly! What is causing this and how can it be fixed. Using Windows 7 Professional.

Chosen solution

Are all three email addresses gmail addresses? Have you selected the correct outgoing server in the account settings. (The entry above server settings displays the selected SMTP server)

Normally you would have one SMTP server per account or identity and use it to send mail for a particular address. This becomes more important when mail providers such as Outlook actually change the address to that of the primary identity of the account. (Outlook identities do not work in Thunderbird because of this)

Yes, all were gmail accounts. As suggested I checked the settings and though there were 3 outgoing server settings, 1 for each account, all the accounts were set to the same setting. How that happened is beyond me! Anyway, I set them to their individual ones and all is now well - thank you!
