HDMI sound crackles and is annoying. I know this has been a problem before from other threads but your site says it is too old and needs to be resubmitted so here it goes. The typical replies you give are work-arounds - like resetting your sound settings (sometimes disabling HDMI sound and re-enabling it fixes the problem) - but that is not acceptable. I cannot do that every time I open Firefox. The annoying thing is that I have no problem with Chrome or Chromium (its Linux clone), EVER. This is a Mozilla Firefox problem, it has been going on for a long time, FIX IT. This is not an error that leaves an error trail so I am not supplying troubleshooting information. It is getting close to me changing my default browser and that is a pity after so many years. I have Ubuntu 18.04. Your system hangs up when loading a screenshot of my sound settings so I am submitting this without it.

I had a similar issue with my Bluetooth speaker and it all but removing all voice audio on certain types of videos that I played. Some were fine others had the music and sound effects other than voice really loud and the voices almost inaudible. I didn't find a pattern to which YouTube videos were affected and which played fine but I did notice that it was usually mp4 files that were affected. I found out that it was my Bluetooth speaker that was the problem and that the left channel wasn't working properly (could have been the right channel I can't remember which one it was off hand) Anyway I fixed the issue by doing the following series of steps in order to make the audio output mono instead of stereo. It's possible that the HD audio isn't working on all channels properly and that is why you are having problems.

 Steps
        1. Copy the sentence below to the clipboard.
                     ease of access hearing
        2. Press Start and then CTRL+V to paste
        3. You should have the same window open as the one I
attached if not just click the highlighted audio section
then make sure mono is checked.

I hope this helps with your problem or if you fixed your issue that it helps someone else. I apologize for being so long winded with my reply I tend to get very OCD on being thorough when I answer a question in a forum. Trust me it drives me crazier than it does everyone else you didn't see how long it took me to edit the dang thing
