Everything was fine until a few days ago. I use Thunderbird 65.0b4 for two email accounts on two different servers. I got a new password for an email address that uses secureserver.net. I confirmed the password in the password manager. Now it times out. I can access the email (sending and receiving) on the server website and I have confirmed the settings on the imap and stmpout with the provider and they are fine. Nothing else is different. I checked anti-virus settings (I use bulldog) Was there a recent update?

I have been searching the community forums and find lots of references to the issue, but no concrete solutions.

The other email (uses forethought.net) works fine.

Any suggestions?

I use Thunderbird 65.0b4

This is a beta version intended for testing purposes. Have you intentionally installed the beta? If not, get the release version from https://www.thunderbird.net/ and install it. Make sure to create a backup of your Thunderbird profile prior to that. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile

I got a new password for an email address that uses secureserver.net.

Not sure what that means. Did you intentionally change your password on your email provider's server?

I confirmed the password in the password manager.

What does this mean? What password manager? Did you update the old password Thunderbird has remembered with the new password?

Now it times out.

This has got nothing to do with passwords. See https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cannot-receive-messages

I am sorry to have muddied the waters so thoroughly in trying to explain my problem.

The owner of the domain name changed the password to my email as part of work she was doing to the company email. I updated THUNDERBIRD'S password manager to reflect the new email.

I thought this password change might be related to the problem because the issue started around the time that the change was made. I have not been able to receive or send emails through secureserver.net since 1/14/19.

Prior to that the secureserver.net and the other completely different server I used for personal correspondence have worked fine. The second, completely different server continues to work fine even though I had to change that password as well because I was pwned a week ago.

I did not intend to be running the beta version. I followed your instructions and backed up my profile prior to downloading and installing version 60.5.0. Nothing has changed. I still cannot send from the secureserver.net and the smtpout.secureserver.net still times out. I did confirm the settings with the secureserver.net customer service for both incoming and outgoing settings.

I do not know what to do at this point. Nothing I have read or done has fixed this problem. It is surely something stupid and small, but I must have overlooked something. Or something changed and I don't know what it is or how it happened.

Thanks for any help or suggestions that you have.

Does your anti virus have a password manager? Are you using SSL/TLs to connect to the server? Have you added the exception to Thunderbird's certificate store for the bizarre SSL certificate issued by that server? Do you need to do something in your anti virus to allow it to scan on that SSL secured connection?

Thanks for your thoughts. My antivirus doe not have a password manager. I use Bullguard.

I wouldn't know where to find out if I am using SSL/TLS to connect to the server. If you point me where to look, I am happy to do so.

I looked through my anti virus and found nothing about SSL secured connection scanning.

Thanks,
