Hi Jonnni, what is working and what isn't?

The first step is to set up your preferred behavior in Firefox. When you use the combined address/search bar, you should be able to set Firefox to send your searches to DuckDuckGo. If that part working?

Ref. Manage my default search engines in Firefox for Android

Note: Firefox for Android includes a search plugin for DDG; no extra installation needed to change how Firefox searches. You might want to install a DDG add-on or app for other reasons, but it isn't needed to change your default search engine in Firefox.

Regarding removing Chrome, you can take it off your home screen, but I wouldn't recommend trying to completely remove it. You might need it from time to time. But if you need advice on Chrome, please try an Android forum.

Firefox is the browser. DuckDuckGo is a search engine.

Type about:preferences#search<enter> in the address bar. You can select any search engine to be your default from here.

Hi, your question is listed under Firefox desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux) but the problem might be on Firefox for Android.

To change your default search engine on Firefox for Android, try this article:

Manage my default search engines in Firefox for Android

To make Firefox your default browser, see:

Make Firefox the default browser on Android

Does that give you the results you want?

Somewhat. Reading ddg site, they say I can use ddg along with Firefox. Just install both and away you go. (Not for this novice). Then I'm supposed to uninstall ggl chrome. I can't find uninstall chrome, just force stop.atc.
