SoundPlus used to do this, but it doesn't work in TB 60. Mailbox Alert is compatible with 60, but it works when a new message arrives in a folder, so you would have to use it in a filter that e.g. copies or moves mail from a sender(s) to a folder.

let me explain this a little more. i have 4 group of of various number of people in each group. when i review MAILBOX it looks like i would have to do an alert for each person in all for groups. does MAILBOX do one alert for each group. i understand i would still have to create 4 folders first.

Mailbox Alert allows you to specify, for each separate mail folder. So that would be the %folder macro.

Create four folders. Create filters to put specifc emails into those specific folders. If you have quite a few people then one way around this would be to create more 'Address Books' (not lists) and put contacts into the relevant address book. then you can use if 'From' is in an address book and specify the address book and Action to move to X folder.

When folder gets message, the Mailbox alert would be enacted for that folder.

Have a look at this manual: http://tjeb.nl/Projects/Mailbox_Alert/Manual/
