I just had to donate in order to download Thunderbird. Have I been "had" and someone has stolen my identity???

If you downloaded the Thunderbird installer from https://www.thunderbird.net/ you do get a prompt to donate. However, this is not an impassable screen, i.e. you're not forced to donate.

Note the banner at the top of the donate page: "Your download should have begun automatically. If it didn’t work, try downloading again here."

Now I'm wondering if it was all fake and my identity has been compromised??

Where did you download Thunderbird from?
