Refreshed Firefox and now get Your connection is not secure for EVERY website. How do I fix this/why did it happen? 2nd time, 1st fixed itself after weeks.
No more to add, tried other advice on here about proxy and certificates, did not work.

I was able to find the old profile folder but not the new one.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Then Copy cert9.db from the old profile to the current.

There is security software like Avast, Kaspersky, BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connection certificates and send their own.

You can copy the cert9.db file in the profile folder in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop to the current profile folder with Firefox closed.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox

I was able to find the old profile folder but not the new one. This shouldn't happen and if I didn't have valuable bookmarks in Firefox would not bother. I have OS 10.11.6
When you say the troubleshooting page do you mean with Firefox open? This is confusing.

I messed around and did find it, through opening the new Firefox, although your instructions said keep it closed. I appreciate your help but this is what was confusing:
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar. (in what browser?)

When Firefox and many other programs close, they write files to the hard drive. Thus if you change something with the program running, it will just get overwritten.
