Everytime my Firefox does a new download and Install it wipes out my History. How can I stop this happening, please?

I usually keep my history in the sidebar for about three months becdause I cannot bookmark all the pages I visit. But everytime Firefox Downloads and Installs a new version it wipes the History out. I have tried looking through all the options but I cannot see anything that heelps. I even reinstalled Firefox anew and set every option that it offered but the latest update has wiped the histopry again.
