Why doesn't youtube work anymore

more options

When I am signed into my youtube account on firefox, videos will give a playback error that can temporarily be fixed by deleting cookies and cache, from what I could tell this started happening after signing into youtube on the desktop site while on my phone using google chrome. Now I have the constant reoccurring playback issue and also if i try to open a video in a new tab it will never work. If I sign out of my youtube account all these issues go away, I also don't have any issues using my account on google chrome so I will be using there browser and possibly won't be trying to use firefox again after not finding any solutions for this issue and having to go in loops trying to contact support. I have had to delete cookies and the clear the cache multiple times these past few days and I am tired of it, I have tried turning off syncing, signed out of youtube on any other browser or platform, and tried a fresh install of firefox.

Try this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

When I did a fresh install I went through and got rid of all files and did a clean up and it didn't solve the issue.

Thank you for testing that. It's odd that YouTube works less well when you are logged in than when you are logged out. It's difficult to think of a good reason for that.

Some users have reported that YouTube generally works more poorly in Firefox since YouTube introduced the "Polymer" design. You could try reverting Firefox to the old design using the following URL or an add-on:
