What type of account are you setting the filter up for?

I note that "Body" appears for POP and IMAP accounts, but not NNTP.

Looking at the folder and files declared in an NNTP account, I can't see any sign of the message body being stored locally. That would be a reasonable explanation for the lack of a body search.

However, if you select an NNTP account, right-click it, select Settings then Synchronisation & Storage. the "Select newsgroups for offline storage" button will allow you to select newsgroups for downloading, and it will start making local copies of NNTP messages. Sadly, this doesn't seem to change the filter actions offered, even though message bodies are now available. ;-(

Oddly, my enhanced QuickFilter bar (using the Expression Search add-on) is able to search in body text.

I'm using the IMAP server.

Manual quick search finds the text in the body of the message, but in the filter of incoming messages there is no "Body" parameter, so it is not possible to filter incoming messages by the "Body" parameter.

I just checked in my Thunderbird, in safe mode, and I have a "body" option for IMAP accounts.

It had occurred to me that one of the add-ons I use to extend the filtering (FiltaQuilla, Expression Search) might have added the body text search capability, but since I see this body option in safe mode, it seems this is independent of add-ons.

Sorry, I don't know why you don't see it yourself.

I have the same problem, but only on some of my folders; that is, "Body" appears as an option in some folders but not others. I think they all contain both received and sent messages, for whatever that is worth. Using Imap, and it is a g-mail account. I do not understand all of the preceding discussion. Thx! Opticist
