I must have downloaded Firefox at least 12 times, on each occasion, it appears to download, however, no profile file in App data. Problem is IT WILL NOT OPEN OR CONNECT!

hi, next to the security software already in place, please run a scan with various other security tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & eset online one-time scanner as this is often a symptom of malicious software on a system...

Hi friend. Malwaresbytes=clear Kapersky=Clear.

I have used Firefox practically from it's inception. Never had any real problems. The last 2 years I have found it to be hell. Freeze ups, crashes, slow speed, Addons not working; etc;etc.

Why could they not let the sleeping dog sleep. I have never had a problem like this ever before and to be frank with you my friend, THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW FOR ME AS FAR AS FIREFOX IS CONCERNED. Plenty of other browsers out there. Many thanks to you for communicating, more than Mozilla does.

Try uninstalling Firefox and deleting everything with Mozilla's name on it. Then try again.

If it still doesn't work, my recommended browser is Opera or Internet Explorer.

Hi The Prius man. Unfortunately, been there 12 times now to no avail.

I have put Opera on. Reasonable but have always liked Firefox because you can integrate your security with it (Kaperskey).

I have the same problem. For some reason, the file would not open on my downloaded files. Then I sent the file to my USB file, clicked on it there, "Run as administrator," and no problem. I had the same problem with some other applications, I would double-click on the icon, and nothing. But when I ran them from the USB drive, no problem.

Give it a try.

I would definitely not go so far as to delete everything and start over. That is a last resort.

Because Firefox gets worse and slower with each iteration on my Vista, and eats up GOBS of memory, even with add-ons disabled, my machine sounds like a wood router or a blender at high speed, stressing out my computer to where I think it will snap--which it never did before.

So I deleted Firefox for the third time, and gave it up, and switched to Opera. It's the last really good browser that works on Vista without taking ten seconds to open or eating up GOBS of memory. I don't care what Mozilla says, the newer the version, the worst it gets--at least on my system.

I would run an older version of Mozilla, which was 38.0.1esr before with very few problems, including installation, but now many sites I visit say the version is too old and won't function on their site. So again, I would recommend to abandon firefox altogether and go with Opera.

Chrome left its Vista and SP users out in the wind to twist, and whether or not Mozilla realizes it, that's what they are doing too. Too many bells and whistles, too much memory, too many cycles being eaten up. They never really had a browser (Mozilla) that was truly a finished product and ready for the marketplace. It's an ongoing work in progress, and with Firefox on my system, it's definitely taking steps backwards. No offense.

Mozilla needs to realize how many millions of us SP and Vista users are left, and we are perfectly content with those operating systems, and won't upgrade simply because Microsoft (or Mozilla, or anyone else) says so.

Again, no offense. I'm using Opera now, slim, clean and neat, running much, much more efficiently than Firefox ever did.

Hi Matty. I could not agree with you more,my friend. Mozilla Firefox is on a course of self destruction and has been so for the last 2 to 3 years. Typical Microsoft copy. Have what we give to you and do not complain! WE know best! Baaaaaah!

It used to be superb. A pleasure to set up and use. All gone know and will get worse. Hey ho! On with Opera I suppose. Many thanks to you all for your help and comments.
