"Could not connect to server incoming.verizon.net. Connection was refused" Suddenly stopped working. May have said no to administrator when asked for permission for thunderbird, not sure of this.

I'm not sure that Verizon even maintains their own servers, such as incoming.verizon.net, anymore; that would explain the error. It seems that since they transferred email services to AOL, you may be able to use a verizon.net address, but have to use AOL's servers.
