I changed a password for a particular site and clicked update when prompted. The next time I logged in, the old password was in place. I cleared cache and again typed the new password and again clicked update but the old password remained in place. How can I replace the old password with the new one?

Are you using any password managers?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

What worked for me it to go to the Preferences/Privacy & Security/Saved Logins, and delete the problematic saved login info (I had two entries for the same thing). Upon reentering the login info at the website the new information was saved correctly.
