Can't access HTTPS sites that use a custom port number, can connect using Chrome, IE, Edge, etc.

Using the latest version of Firefox Quantum I am unable to connect to sites that use HTTPS with a custom port number such as 444, 11443, etc. This was working just fine yesterday. Have already tried clearing my browsing history, even tried private windows.

If Edge, Chrome can not make it out it is most likely not a Firefox issue as it wants ports open also. It does not close ports.

It could be that your ISP is having issues or your setup has changed or issues in Win10.

What happens when you try to access those sites? Does Firefox just spin, or server not found, or a specific error message. The more details you can copy/paste, the better.

Also, did your Firefox update overnight? Usually there's an update history on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, look for the " Update History" row.

It seems you misunderstood what my issue is. What I am saying is that I am unable to connect using Fire Fox while I am able to connect using any other browser. As for the error message that, I immediately get a generic “Unable to connect” page with no clues as to why it is unable to.

Could you check the Web Console to see whether there is any more information there? You can open that in the lower part of the tab by pressing Ctrl+Shift+K. You probably need to reload the page to generate new console output.

Didn’t get a chance to check the Web Console but I have narrowed the problem down to just Firefox Quantum version 57.0.1 32-bit. The 64-bit version is working just fine using the exact same settings.
