How to make the home page the new tab? The about:newtab doesn't work in the newest version

In the earlier versions when i started Firefox the home page was instantly my new tab page and thats great for me since i have the most often used 9 paged there. In the most recent version even though in the options for the home page still stands "about:newtab" Firefox opens its homepage. I just want to open new tab on starting Firefox.
