Pop-ups have started appearing constantly and I can't fix it

I downloaded several video repair programs, and one of them must have been dodgy because popups have started appearing constantly. Text that shouldn't be a link is now a link, and if I click anywhere then new tabs open with ads.

I've tried two different malware scans, which both found PUPs and got rid of them, but it didn't work. I also tried refreshing Firefox, but that didn't work either.

Hey there. First and foremost, check for any suspicious looking Addons-Extensions via: Three bar menu --> Addons "about:addons"

Next I'd suggest running an AdWare Scan. You can find a nice scanning software from MalwareBytes.

After all is done, you can install a popup blocker via the addons page, or by clicking here for my suggestion: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

I already looked through my addons and there was nothing there. I also tried AdwCleaner - that was one of the things that identified stuff and removed it.

uBlock seems to be working, though, thanks.

Hi   BrownieComicWriter,

As installing uBlock Origin, as suggested by Zachary, seems to have done the trick : Would you be a dear and mark Zachary's post as   'Chosen Solution' ? Thank you in advance  !
