Hello,

Since yesterday, I've been experiencing near constant crashes in firefox, especially when watching videos or using facebook.

Any thoughts on whats causing it based on the reports below?

You can try to set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

I tried both of these solutions but its still crashing for me. Here is another recent crash report. I find that the crashing occurs most often when watching videos and skipping through them to different parts. Also, it appears as though the individual tab crashes do not generate reports.

  • Edit* Got it to generate a crash report for the tab crash specifically.

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix things? I'm willing to try almost anything at this point.

Thank you!

Do any of your extensions relate to video? You could try disabling those in case they are incompatible with some recent change in Firefox. You can view, disable, and often configure or remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything video-related or unfamiliar? If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox before the change takes effect. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

The NVIDIA Drivers have been giving Firefox problems of late. There is a current bug report, reopened.

Note: v55 has been giving users problems. Reinstall v54.

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.
