I have 4 downloads and when I click on Firefox, still old version what is up with that
I have the version of Adobe acrobate Plug in mentioned above. So what is up with that? Do I need to update that to a newer version?

After downloading the installer, you need to install Adobe by double-clicking the file. After installing it, you should have the latest version.
Try deleting Firefox cache if it's not detected.
The System Details list next to the question shows that you run an older Firefox 43.0 version that is no longer supported with security updates. Always update Firefox and Add-ons to the latest versions to get all security fixes. Please update to the current Firefox 55.0 release.

If there a problem with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the Disk Image file to the desktop
- Firefox 55.0: *https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
- trash the currently installed Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean reinstall
- install the new version that you have downloaded

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
