By default, YouTube will set the video quality to automatically detect what quality your system and network connection can handle. If you have a slow connection or a slow system, YouTube may automatically drop your video quality to the lowest setting (usually 144p). Try clicking the little gear icon on the YouTube player and change the quality setting to something other than automatic.
