I am having an error each time I load firefox on an iMac. Rather than one window popping up ( as usual) to my homepage, I now have a second dysfunctional, smaller white box that is linked to firefox, but doesn't respond or show the usual firefox application items (file/edit/view/history/bookmarks, etc.). I have removed firefox from my computer, re-downloaded the application, restarted my computer, all to no avail -- this second box keeps popping up.

Please help.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
