Two thoughts:

(1) About 18 months ago (?), Yahoo signed a contract to provide financial support to Mozilla in exchange for being the default search engine. Of course, you can change it if you like (see: Change your default search settings in Firefox).

At that time, Yahoo developed a different results page layout for Firefox users. I don't know whether that changed the results of a Yahoo search in Firefox vs. other browsers such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but you might compare and see what you get.

(2) Most search engines personalize your results. So if you are logged into a Yahoo account, that may influence what you see compared to when you are not logged in.

Hi Kevin, do you mean the site would appear in the first position in search results on Google, Yahoo, Bing, or another search engine? Search results are controlled by the search site you use and each one has different suggestions for improving your position in the results.

Firefox sends your searches to Yahoo by default, but it could have changed. What is the address in the address bar on the results page?

thanks again, the address is yahoo.com, and my site with yahoo is in the first slot, first page, interesting . . . your response is most appreciated, and i know this is not of earth shattering importance, though i still wonder why things are such with firefox.
