What are you trying to achieve in the first place?

Extensions should update automatically, without user intervention. If you want to see your installed extensions you're looking at the wrong place.

At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Add-ons > Extensions.

I am wondering if we might have an issue with Hebrew, I saw someone else in the forum today were Thunderbird wax messing up Hebrew folder names (in the file system).

Yes, I have Thunderbird recently updated to version 45.2.0, but this problem was also in version 45.1.1

I suggest you try V38, just to be sure it is not some sort of regression that has occurred in the 45 line.
