Adobe reader in Firefox download files

In applications I have PDF set to "use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox). What I don't understand is why with some PDF's it will open directly to view while others, especially, with PDF email attachments it wants to save them to the download directory. Why does it do that and is there a way to make all the files just open and not download?
