What does the "Clear Recent History" option in TBird actually do?

There is a "clear recent history" option under the tools menu in TBird. It doesn't clear the history in the default browser or in Firefox. I'm wondering - just what does it do? Thanks

If you give it a try a pop-up appears. It should be self explaining.
