viewing email attachments

I have sent an .vcf file from another device so I can bring over all of my contacts. When I view the list of emails in TBird, it shows these emails (I've tried a few times) as having attachments, but when I open the email, the attached file is nowhere to be found. AND, when I go back to the list, it shows the emails as no longer having attachments!

I also went into Windows and selected to see hidden files, in case that was what was stopping me from seeing the files, but no change.

How can I get to the attached files I have sent, and why don't they show up when I open the email?

PS - I started using TB because I thought I'd like the interface better than Outlook, but it's turning into a royal pain in the butt!
