Crashes when attaching a photo

Hi all, had this problem for a while now and have decided to finally get it sorted. I cannot attach a file or folder (regardless of size). Thunderbird just crashes. The error is reported each time. Any ideas

I also note that I cannot automatically resize images like I used to. It would come up as an option when i selected a photo to resize to eg 700x600 or 1290x800 ..

That isn't something Thunderbird can do. You'd need to install an add-on for that.
