I get a notice to update, it goes through the update, then says it can't be installed and takes them back out. What is the problem?

Daily shows/announces that updates are available, however when I choose update and restart, I get a notice saying, "unable to install updates, removing updates don't shut off computer.

What is it you were trying to update? How were you told?

. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the website of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to https://www.mozilla.org {web link}

Went to Mozilla Firefox.com and tried doing the updates there....still doesn't work.

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
