How can I get rid of Start.me in new tabs?

more options

Just recently set up Firefox and I was looking at Start.me but after playing with it I decided against it. But now each time I click on a new tab I get the Start.Me sign up page, how can I get rid of it please and just get blank new tabs? Thank you.

There is an extension you need to remove. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Then Firefox should go back to the normal new tab page. To change that from history tiles to a blank page, see: Customize your New Tab page to hide or display content.

Does that work?

You might also want to delete your account at Start.me if you created one: there's a delete account button on https://start.me/users/edit.
